We are happy to announce we have some new courses starting in September.
‘Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism’ and ‘Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership’ induction day takes place on 30th of September 2015 at The Stables Conference & Meeting Venue.
What are the qualifications?
New bespoke primary school physical education qualifications for primary school teachers developed by the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and Sports Leaders UK.
Why?
Both qualifications will be an effective use of the physical education and school sport premium funding. By developing primary teachers’ professional practice it will ensure a sustainable high quality primary school physical education.
Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism
This is a recognised qualification that aims to develop primary school teachers’ professional practice by improving the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to assist in raising the standards within primary school physical education teaching.
Average learning time: 141 hours which includes 45 tutored guided learning hours and 96 independent learning hours.
Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership
This is a recognised qualification to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. The aim of this qualification is to develop primary school teachers’ professional practice to enable them to lead the delivery of the primary school physical education curriculum. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to take subject leadership within primary school physical education teaching and deliver sustainable high quality primary school physical education.
Delegates must have successfully completed the Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism before undertaking this qualification.
Average learning time: 38 hours which includes 18 tutored guided learning hours and 20 independent learning hours.
Who is leading the courses?
Andrew Frapwell will be leading on the delivery of the course with associate tutors. Andrew was one of a 4-strong authoring team nationally that developed these qualifications.
