Andrew Frapwell is highly-regarded both nationally and internationally in the design and development of effective and sustainable bespoke courses to meet teacher’s professional development needs.  He has worked with a range of stakeholders at local, regional, national and international level which has included government agencies and authorities such as the Specialist Schools Academies Trust (SSAT), the Qualification and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA), CfBT Education Trust, Becta and the Youth Sport Trust (YST).  Andrew currently consults for the Association for Physical Education (afPE) as their national lead on assessment; for Ofqual as a registered subject expert and Hartpury Higher Education College as a curriculum advisor.

His experience in the United Kingdom has included leading the support for the implementation of the secondary National Curriculum (2007-10), and lead consultant for the Specialist Schools Academies Trust [SSAT (2009-2010)].  Nationally he was involved in the subject Stakeholder group for the review of the National Curriculum for 2014.  Internationally he has presented/run workshops in the United States, New Zealand, Greece, Germany, Switzerland and Finland; consulted on the production of teacher training materials in Saudi Arabia in 2012; and was the author of the physical education curriculum for Kosovo (Jan-Jun 2014) as part of a European Union donor project.

Previously Andrew worked as a Senior Teacher, Assistant Training Manager and Head of Department in schools and subsequently at the University of Worcester (1996 – 2004) training teachers as Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Secondary Subject Leader and also as Curriculum Leader.

He has presented and authored extensively in Education including the title “In Deep: Learning to Learn” (2010) and his most recent book “Assessing without Levels” (2015).  In his writing capacity he was also the co-editor of the afPE National Journal – Physical Education Matters (2010-2014), and author of 1st4sport level 2 and 3 qualifications in PE and School Sport, as well as one of the authors of the SLUK/afPE Level 5/6 Primary Physical Education for the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF).

Andrew holds a Master of Science degree with distinction in Education Leadership and Management and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).  He has three children, is an avid skier and supporter of Everton FC!
